What you Might be Doing Wrong when Learning the Golf Swing

As a new golfer, you may find it difficult to learn the golf swing. You have probably tried tips and tricks in the book and hit thousands of golf balls in your quest for the perfect swing. There are certain reasons why it is not easy to learn the golf swing and learning some golf swing tips from the experts will help you master the swing over time.

Here’s why you might be doing the swing wrong:

You Use your Arms Hitting the Ball Instead of your Body

Average golfers use their arms since this is natural when you see an object on the ground in front of you. You want to hit the ball and hit it hard, resulting in swings that are far too long and loose. But, the golf swing involves more than just hitting it with your arms. You can only learn a good swing when you use your body.

You can do this by basing your swing on rotating your shoulders in the backswing and your legs and hips in the downswing. With this, you will stop your arms from taking the club back too far. This can take a few tries so don’t give up too easily. Using your body rotation, continue to hit easy shots until you get the ball airborne.

You Swing Too Fast

The irregular tempo results from hitting only with your arms and attempting to blast each shot as hard as you can. Your arms tend to move faster than your body rotation in the golf swing. It will be impossible to replicate the exact hitting motion with your arms. Meanwhile, body rotation at the same speed rate is easy since your body only rotates at around 2 mph. Basing your swing on your body’s rotational speed makes it easier to make the same move each time, letting you get your desired tempo.

You Lack Practice

You need to practice to get better. But, this means practicing the way a pro would practice. You have to know the golf swing mechanics and work on an aspect of your game instead of being out on the range to hit every shot perfectly. It’s important to know exactly what you are working on for each shot and take your time trying to master it. Also, you must know that working on a particular position in your swing may take months to master. Don’t go to the range without a game plan.
